One of the unfortunate consequences of globalization has been the emergence of new pathogens and viral diseases in previously unaffected regions. This has led to the feed industry having to deal with a whole new set of viruses and bacteria such as African Swine Flu, Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease that threaten food safety.
These challenges are driving the need to develop innovative, pre-emptive interventions, to prevent contamination and the spread of these pathogens. Consequently, there is an urgent need to strengthen feed bio-security, to keep these pathogens at bay.
