President, Animal Nutrition and Health – Europe, Middle East, and North Africa

João Marcelo de Castro Gomes is president of Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health – EMENA (Europe, Middle East and North Africa).  Gomes joined Kemin in 2019 as President of Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health – South America. In 2023, he was named President of Kemin Food Technologies – EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa). A business developer at heart, Gomes has held various executive positions throughout his nearly three-decade career, focusing on sales, marketing, and business and people development in animal nutrition and health companies.

Gomes is a highly experienced international business senior executive and a licensed veterinarian. He has a proven record of success in sales, marketing and management in the animal nutrition and health sectors of Brazil and Latin America. Throughout his career, he  concentrated on sales growth, strategy development and execution, customer focus and production differentiation. Gomes also has a solid background in the mergers and acquisitions process and people development.

During the whole of his career, Gomes has assumed different commercial, marketing, business development and management positions for several companies, including Bayer Animal Health, Fort Dodge Animal Health, Ceva Animal Health, Vallée S/A and Novus International. Also he was a President of VetBR, one of the largest animal health and nutrition distributors in Brazil.

Gomes earned his degree in veterinary medicine from Universiade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro. He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English.
