PB6 is a spore former that originates from the intestinal tracts of healthy chickens and has resistance to elevated temperatures and low pH.

Pathogenic bacteria can accumulate in the intestinal microbiota and create an imbalance. In dogs, this imbalance can manifest as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and nausea. The PB6 found in Kemin’s SUBACTIL produces lipopeptides in the gastrointestinal tract which have efficient anti-inflammatory properties. These lipopeptides have inhibitory activity against some troublesome pathogenic bacteria in the microbiota such as C. perfringens.
