As a supplier of ingredients used in products consumed by people and animals, Kemin is constantly working to identify and develop sustainable alternatives. Today, ingredients made from sustainable molecules account for more than 35% of our global sales, reducing both our and our customers’ ecological footprint. This percentage will only grow as we continue doing the right thing for our customers and the planet.

Providing Natural Alternatives
Our Specialty Crop Improvement (SCI) team continues to research plants and identify useful molecules that can be extracted and used to manufacture ingredients with active or functional benefits for our customers. Thanks to Kemin research and innovation, rosemary, marigolds and potatoes have become sources of life-enhancing products for humans and animals. This process not only provides our customers with natural, plant-based alternatives, it helps the environment as the plants grown harvest sunlight and clean the air by sequestering carbon dioxide.

Our SCI team of plant scientists manages the entire process from the plant breeding and propagating to growing and harvesting, making us the most vertically integrated supplier of rosemary-based products in the food, pet food, personal care and nutraceutical industries. In addition to rosemary, we harvest antioxidants from marigolds and we are the only supplier of PI2 – a satiety ingredient for weight management derived from potato.
